First log in

To connect to your machine you will need some information about virtual machine from the portal. Please choose wanted machine among others in Virtual Machines view.

Then the detailed machine view will be seen. Username will be needed to proceed. You will also need private IP, if you are connecting through VPN service. In order to do so, go to How to connect to your infrastructure using VPN.

Disclaimer: All addresses and usernames below are example and they will not work. To connect, use your own credentials.

Detailed view of virtual machine

If you're not connected through VPN, you will need public IP with SSH mapping. To get it, go to Networking section and then to NAT mappings. Public IP should be visible on the list. Create SSH mapping through simple form (if it is not created yet).

Creating SSH mapping

This is the mapping you should have to connect to machine via SSH. Creating SSH mapping

From now on, process will slightly vary depending on machine which connection is made from.

From Linux machine

The first step is to open the terminal. It should be easy to find in any Linux distribution. Just click the icon on toolbar of find it in applications.

When terminal window opens, prepare IP address, username and password (default password is sent by email when machine is created).

Please enter following command (replace 192.168.1.1 with proper IP address):

ssh -l your_username 192.168.1.1

When connecting to a virtual machine you might be asked if the target virtual machine is authentic. Answer 'yes', when asked to continue connecting to the virtual machine. This will store the host key locally and you will not need to accept it again when connecting to this host.
When logging in to machine, you will be asked for virtual machine password. Use default one (it's in email sent after creating machine). Then you will be asked to change password. Notice that you have to type current password first, then new password and retype new password. After resetting password, session might close. Then you should connect again on regular basis.

For security, password has to contain at least 8 signs and each of following:

  • small letter
  • capital letter
  • number

Properly conducted process is shown on the picture below.

Connection via terminal on Mac

From Windows machine (via PuTTy)

Begin with running PuTTy client. If you don't have it, get it on http://putty.org . After opening application, enter your IP address to Host Name input. Leave default value in Port input. Click Open button. Terminal window will open. When new connection between your machine and IP address has to be created, you will be requested for authenticating host. Click Yes, when asked to continue connecting in console.

When terminal window opens, prepare IP address, username and password (default temporary password is sent by email when machine is created).

When logging in to machine, you will be asked for virtual machine password. Use default and temporary one (it's in email sent after creating machine). Then you will be asked to change password. Notice that you have to type current password first, then new password and retype new password. After resetting password, session might close, as well as PuTTy client. Then you should connect again on regular basis.
